Fluent in Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian, Ashiq Nargile represents the cosmopolitan heritage of old Tbilisi. She is currently the only female ashiq (bard) living and performing in Georgia. Her vocal recital of epic folk poetry is both ecstatic and deeply expressive, and is interspersed with bursts of the virtuosic, highly ornamented saz (long-neck lute).
